Message from the Head of School
Welcome! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Anthony Serio, Head of School/Superintendent of The Gilbert School. I have served as a superintendent for over 20 years in Connecticut and Massachusetts. My tenure in administration began in 1984 when I took a position as a special education director. I proceeded to assistant superintendent and then superintendent in that district, giving me the opportunity to gain knowledge of the many components of a school district organization—from curriculum and instruction to facilities, capital planning, and budgeting.
I must share with you my enthusiasm for our International Program, which began in August of 2013. This is a great opportunity for your children—our students—to expand their horizons by experiencing the multicultural atmosphere that exists at The Gilbert School.
Mr. Alan Strauss is the principal of The Gilbert School. Mr. Strauss has a wealth of knowledge in curriculum and instruction. He is an advocate for high standards, rigor in instruction and assessment, and equity for all.
Both Mr. Strauss and I have worked together in planning professional development and forging a direction for various curriculum and program offerings. Everyone here has high expectations as we continue to introduce new programs that will enhance the education of our students over the next few years and beyond.
Anthony Serio, Ed.D.
Head of School/Superintendent
